DAY 1 (LANCASTER, PA)

July 24, 2022 Today was the first day of the tour and everyone involved was either extremely nervous, extremely excited, or some kind of mix between the two. We met at the Emanuel Church and made sure everyone and everything we needed was present, and made sure to get some group photos too. A bunch of today was spent on the tour bus and we had a lot of fun playing card games, chatting a bunch, and resting. Our next stop was the Willow Valley Cultural Center where we were fortunate enough to get to play for the community there and especially Eileen Laurence who most everyone in the choir owes a lot to and has great memories with. Our concert went great and I think the audience would agree, everyone attending was super nice and generous. Lots of people in the audience were curious and were happy to learn a bit about the bells as well when they were allowed to come up to the stage and try ringing or learn about how it’s done. The standing ovation we got at the end tells the whole story. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s music and hoping that we play just as well if not better. Off to the 2022 International Bell Festival and the concert tour with KCR

The ringers from Emanuel and Katonah are the part of New York Handbell Ringers attending the 2022 International Handbell Festival in Nashville,TN. Under the bright but not yet hot morning sun the ringers and their families waited for the arrival of the tour bus picking up the ringers at Emanuel. Those who started the journey from Emanuel Church, those of Emanuel Ringers and some KCR members gathered at the traditional "staircase photo opportunity" follwed by the Pastor Kevin's blessing.

Time to update the blog - I thought I had done it recently but apparantly not! The bells have been busy even through COVID even if the blogpost has not. We were able to continue our ringing and providing music for worship. Our tour to Nashville, TN has started with our pretour rehearsals! Fall 2020 Ringing season brought with it all new things.

We recorded as much as possible to provide music for worship services during our hour long rehearsals for all of the choirs. We did not start rehearsals till the end of October. Some recordings were done in one or two rehearsals. The ringers were great about learning the music in such a short time. We didi know if we would meet or who could meet week to week but we did it

With safety protocols in place, the Emanuel Ringers and Katonah Celebration Ringers recorded Sunday afternoon's concert this past week to benefit the Break the Hold Organization. Please click the link above and enjoy the work the ringers have done to create music for all of you to enjoy. 

Break the Hold organization's mission is suicide prevention. They provide funding to teach students and provide resources to build resilience and reduce the risk of suicide through education, advocacy and raise awareness about depression and other mental health challenges.
